Third grade students attempt to reach goal

These students from Lauri Auffert's class are trying to reach a goal of getting the most certificates for returning library books on time.
Third grade students in Lauri Auffert's class have received nine awards for having their books back on time. Mrs. Auffert said, "The most I have ever had in my years of teaching is three."
As a reward, the students are getting their picture published on the website. They also get a certificate each time all the students have their books turned in on time. According to Mrs. Auffert, the class is trying to get one each week for the rest of the year.
Nancy Wittwer, the media specialist, didn't know what the record is for a year. "I am guessing we beat it," exclaimed Mrs. Auffert. "But we have 9 now and if we continue, we could have 17. The students have decided if we get 17 they can each take one home." She added, "That is a pretty big goal. I think we can do it." |
