8th graders are promoted during event

Recognized for academic achievement during the promotion ceremony are First Row, left to right–Amber Makovicka, Claire Poppe, Courney Chapple, and Ashley Crawford; Second Row–Malorie Feighner, Shelby Hoppe, Tressa Chandler, Bethany Lampe, Elizabeth Eickhoff, and Amie Wiltse; Third Row–Jeffery Cornell, Wade Witt, Cord Huettner, and Mitchell Campbell; Fourth Row–David von Behren, Jesse Butrick, and Wade Maddox.

On Tuesday, May 12, at 7:30 P.M., the 8th Grade Promotion was held at Prichard Auditorium. After the Processional, the Welcome was given by David von Behren. Under the direction of Barb Hinrichs, the 8th Grade Chorus sang two songs with Jeff Cornell and David von Behren singing the Tenor Descant.

Language Arts Award – Courtney Chapple
Writers Award – Malorie Feighner
Science Award – Elizabeth Eickhoff
Mad Scientists – Cord Huettner and Amie Wiltse
Art Awards – David von Behren and Austin Schaible

Presidential Academic Education Awards were given to the following students who scored at least 80 percentile on the Terra Nova Test and maintained a GPA of at least 3.25 through middle school:

Scholar Academic Achievement Awards were presented to these students who received the national average of 52% or higher on a test with questions from all academic areas and humanities:

David von Behren – received a medallion for the highest score in the class

The Promotion and Activity Participation Certificates were given out by Linnette Fankhauser, Guidance Counselor, and Rick Johnson Principal. The middle school band played two musical selections under the direction of Robert Kercher. Closing remarks were given by Courtney Chapple and the promoted students walked out during the processional.
