The Falls City FFA Chapter members attended the District Land Judging Contest on October 4, 2011. Twenty-one students, along with FFA Advisor Brian Miller, attended the contest.
Seven members of the local chapter placed in the top 20. Individual results were as follows:
- 2nd Place – Levi Heineman
- 4th Place – Kenny Frederick
- 6th Place – Cord Huettner
- 10th Place – Amie Wiltse
- 13th Place – Zavan Kirkendall
- 15th Place – Eli Kuker
- 17th Place – Lee Huettner
The Senior team of Levi Heineman, Kenny Frederick, Eli Kuker and Chris Yoesel took first place and won a prized soil probe valued at $300. The team of Cord Huettner, Amie Wiltse, Elizabeth Eickohff, and Cody Schawang took third place. The top three schools qualifying for state land judging were Falls City, Palmyra, and Diller-Odell.
Only one team per school can go, so the first place senior team will be going to state land judging on November 2. FFA Advisor Miller said that was very pleased with the results this year and has high hopes for state.
