FFA compete in Leadership Skills Events;
Eickhoff places first, qualifies for State

On Tuesday January 19, 2010, the Falls City FFA Chapter participated in the Leadership Skills Events contest at Southeast Community College in Beatrice. When members first arrived at SCC, they were greeted by the Dean of the Agriculture Department.

The local chapter was involved in Senior Parliamentary Procedure, Cooperative Speaking, Creed Speaking, Extemporaneous Speaking, and a Job Interview. Jared Eickhoff did an extemporaneous speech over whether local farming and organic producers can support our food supply. He was given thirty minutes to hear his topic and write the speech. The speech had to be four to six minutes. Jared Eickhoff placed first in Extemporaneous Speaking and will be going to state.

The Senior Parliamentary Procedure group took a test of 25 questions and then held a meeting in front of three judges. Team members competing were Victoria Vollmer, Tyler Way, Jimmy Jarred, Hayley McCann, Casey Gerdes, and Jared Yoesel. The team placed third and were awarded bronze medals. William Gay competed in Cooperative Speaking and gave his speech on a wide range of cooperatives. He placed fourth. Creed Speakers Elizabeth Eickhoff and Amie Wiltse recited the FFA Creed individually. Elizabeth placed 14th and Amie placed 16th as Creed Speakers. Jayme Clark was a job interviewee. He had to write a full resume and then have an actual interview with the judges. He also had to write a thank you letter. Jayme Clark placed 9th in his Job Interview.
