FFA members attend Husker Harvest Day
On October 16, 2009, the Falls City FFA Chapter traveled to Grand Island to attend Husker Harvest Days. The bus rolled out of Falls City, bright and early, at 6:00 A.M. Forty-six students and their sponsors arrived in Grand Island around 10:00 AM. Jerry Kuker, Donald Wilhide, Steve Yoesel, Phil Hitchcock, and Tyler Bek went on the trip as sponsors. They were joined by FFA sponsor Brian Miller.
Hayley McCann, FFA reporter, said, "The day was filled with tractors, planters, hicks, and rednecks. Students walked around and learned about a lot of farming equipment and machinery. GPS, biotechnology, welding, and new types of equipment were among the many different things to learn about." She added, "There were different surveys to take, vendors to buy from, and TONS of FREE stuff. All of the students were supposed to learn about at least one thing and write a summary about it. "
The Falls City FFA Chapter also received a check for one hundred and thirty-two dollars from Animal Health Center. Pfizer Animal Health started a program that provides veterinarians and animal health suppliers an opportunity to support their local FFA chapters.
For eligible purchases of Pfizer Animal Health vaccines, a donation will be made on the customer’s behalf to the local FFA chapter of his/her choice. The program’s donations can assist FFA Chapters with classroom materials, educational opportunities, travel to the national convention, and more. The program also provides veterinarians and suppliers with an opportunity to engage young FFA students in discussions about rewarding careers in Animal Health. The local FFA chapter would like to give a BIG thank you to the Animal Health Center for their kind donation!
