Students participate in DARE graduation;
DARE essay contest winners announced

Winners of the DARE essay contest are Hannah Popejoy, Cody Frederick, McKayla Henderson, Maggy Rieschick, and Megan Vollmer with Officer Trantham.

Fifty-four fifth grade students graduated from the DARE program on December 18. The ceremony was held in the South School gym. Winners of the essay contest read their DARE essays. The winners were Cody Frederick, McKayla Henderson, Hannah Popejoy, Maggy Rieschick, and Megan Vollmer.

This is the fifth year State Trooper Wayne Trantham of Beatrice has provided instruction. Because of the mandatory retirement age for State Troopers, Officer Trantham will not be returning next year. He does not believe his position will be replaced, which leaves the South School students without a DARE officer.
