Students attend foreign language event

On Thursday, March 12, eight Falls City High School Spanish students attended the 33rd Annual Foreign Language Fair at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. During the day, the FCHS students entered competitions.

Hannah Thompson, Shandelle Lovenburg and Stephanie Campbell competed in the poster competition. They received a superior for their depiction of the Baby Jumping Festival in northern Spain. Five other students participated in the poetry event. Tom Schimonitz garnered a blue ribbon for his reading of a Pablo Neruda piece. Ashton Woolsley, Willie Neubauer, Adam Suedmeier and R.J. Kelley also competed in the poetry event.

In addition to the competitions, the students had an opportunity to take mini language lessons in Swahili, Japanese, and Czech languages. They also observed Spanish drama, music, and folk dance competition.
