Staff members added, others changed
The 2009 - 10 school year opens with many staff changes. Some staff members are new faces and others are new faces in different places. The following are the new and changed staff members:
District
Laura Koopman is moving from South School paraprofessional to van driver to Nebraska City. She will be a paraprofessional for visually hanicapped students there between arriving and departing.
High School
Becky Wittwer, who will be shared with middle school, will be the new Media Specialist. Gayle Weinert has moved from middle school as the new high school art teacher. Gerald Hopp is working in the Special Education Department as a paraprofessional.
Middle School
Sharing duties with the high school is Becky Wittwer, who will be the media specialist two days a week. Chris Bennett, who will also work at South School, will be the new middle school art teacher. Sarah Mount will be teaching SPED instead of 7th grade English and reading recovery. Karen Flynn and Barb Hinrichs have added middle school reading intervention to their duties.
South School
Brenda Streit, who was teaching at North School, will be the new South School Life Skills teacher. Jan Deckinger is joining the South School staff from Maple Grove as a third grade teacher. Chris Bennett, who also teaches at middle school, will work with Response to Intervention at South School. Sue Neubauer has moved from North School as a Life Skills paraprofessional. Lori Keller will be a SPED paraprofessional instead of working in the Life Skills room. New aides in the Life Skills program are Brandon Prater and Linda Meyer. Stacy Ebel, who will also work at North School, will be a part-time paraprofessional in a South School SPED room.
North School
Changing assignments at North School are Allison Glathar, who is going to teach first grade instead of second grade and Angie Hunzeker who will be teaching kindergarten instead of first grade. Angie Embretson continues as a part-time teacher in the Parent Child Center, but she is also be a reading intervention teacher at North School. Joining the North School staff again after retiring is Kathy Martin who is a part-time teacher in the Parent-Child Center. Anne Harmon is changing assignments as she moves from being a SPED paraprofessional at high school and South School to being a SPED paraprofessional at North School. Stacy Ebel, who also works at South School, will join the staff as a SPED paraprofessional. Also joining the North School staff are Holly Rieschick as a SPED paraprofessional and Lynette Liberty as a Parent Child Center paraprofessional.
Coaching
Numerous coaching changes have been made. At the high school level, Don Coolidge is an assistant football coach, Nikki Dunn is an assistant volleyball coach, and Susan Witt is an assistant girls' basketball coach. At the middle school level, Kory Huppert is an assistant football coach, Gina Scheitel is the head volleyball coach, and Shelby Kreifels is an assistant track coach.
