Operation Lifesaver program

Operation Lifesaver Image
Tom Hillyard and Chris Niemeyer present an Operation Lifesaver program to Falls City Middle School students.

On October 28, 29, and 30, Tom Hillyard and Chris Niemeyer visited the 6th, 7th, and 8th grade classes of Falls City Middle School to talk about railway safety and Operation Lifesaver. Operation Lifesaver is a nonprofit, national continuing public education program. It is designed to end collisions, deaths, and injuries at places where roadways cross train tracks and on railroad rights-of way.

Operation Lifesaver programs are sponsored cooperatively by Federal, state, and local government agencies; highway safety organizations; and the nation’s railroads. Operation Lifesaver’s trained and certified volunteer speakers provide free safety presentations for various professions and for all age groups. Their goal is to increase public safety around railroad tracks. Free presentations are available for anyone who lives or travels near train tracks. Call 800-537-6224 for more information.
