FCHS students win math challenge contest

Victoria Vollmer displays the Calculus first place medal.

On Friday, February 26, twelve Falls City High School students participated in the Greater Southeast Nebraska Math Challenge held at Peru State College. The contest consisted of individual, team and quiz bowl events.
Victoria Vollmer was first place individual medalist in the Calculus test.
The combined scores on the individual and team tests earned the team of
Zach Ernst, Ashton Woosley, and Victoria Vollmer first place in Division I Calculus.

Geometry team members were Cord Huettner, Dakota Butrick, and David von Behren. Algebra II team members were Hannah Gilfillan, Justin Elwonger, and Ashley Sickel. Precalculus team members were Julianne Kopf, Lisa Kopf, and Trevor Harling.

Other schools competing in the math challenge were Beatrice, Norris, Nebraska City, Syracuse-Dunbar-Avoca, Humboldt, TriCounty, Weeping Water, Thayer Central, Nebraska City Lourdes, Johnson-Brock, Pawnee City, and Sterling.
