Student's poem chosen for anthology

Falls City Middle School student Anastasia Finner, a seventh grader, had her poem “Rain” selected to be in a poetry book. It was included in A Celebration of Poets, the fall 2008 anthology for the Creative Communications regional poetry contest. 

Creative Communications is an organization dedicated to promoting language arts. They have sponsored regional writing contests for over fifteen years.  According to English teacher Kory Huppert, Anastasia enjoys writing and when he presented this opportunity to her, she was a bit nervous at the thought of possibly being published.  However, when she received word last winter that her poem had been selected to be a part of the Midwest region’s anthology, her nervousness gave way to excitement and confidence. 

Anastasia’s success has inspired a few other young writers at FCMS to enter their poems for this spring’s contest.
