FCHS students attend Romeo and Juliet

Attending the "Music Alive" production of Romeo and Juliet at the Holland Performing Arts Center in Omaha on January 27 were 78 FCHS freshmen. The Nebraska Arts Council supplied a grant of $500 to make this trip possible. FCHS English teacher Kris Simon wrote the grant and sponsored the trip.

The actors were dressed from the 1950's in correlation to Westside Story but re-inacted Romeo and Juliet. The Omaha Symphony performed musical selections from Westside Story to enhance Shakespeare's scenes, such as the "fights," the "love" scenes, and sadly enough, the "deaths." Following the performance, the conductor and the play's director entertained a question/answer session to a full house of students.
