FCHS freshman qualifies for state contest

David von Behren will represent Falls City High School on March 18 in the State Speech Tournament in Kearney. The FCHS freshman will be the Tigers lone competitor after earning a 3rd place finish at the B1 district meet hosted by Norris on Saturday, February 27.

The Falls City forensic team had high hopes for even more state qualifiers as Rachel Stevens, Lisa Kopf, and Julianne Kopf, in addition to von Behren all had strong preliminary rounds as they entered finals. Stevens placed 6th in persuasive speaking and teamed with von Behren to earn a 4th place finish in duet. Julianne took 5th in Entertainment and along with her sister Lisa managed a 7th place finish in duet. Kent Stejskal competed in extemporaneous.
