Middle School students salute Veterans

Math teacher Terri Hogue helps Della Peek and Zach Cornell affix a poster to the fence next to middle school.
Middle School students created posters to salute Veterans on Veteran's Day. The posters were done by the 8th grade Algebra and Pre-algebra math students. They either drew the picture freehand or were inspired by a picture they saw.

Math teacher Terri Hogue, who planned the project, said, "Being a member of the VFW Women's Auxiliary, I wanted to start something that can be done year to year." She stated that the plans were to put the decaposhes up each year on the fence line at middle school with the art work facing 14th street. Talking about the future of the project, Mrs. Hogue explained, "As there are too many posters for the middle school fence line, we hope to continue to carry them over to North School."

Attaching a poster to the fence around the middle practice field are eighth graders Waylon Knapp and Clayton Burge.
After participating in the project, the students now have a better understanding of the history and meaning of Veteran's Day. They were also able to share some family history themselves.
