Rudy Vrtiska, a senior at Falls City High School, signed his letter of intent March 6 to run track and field for the Nebraska Wesleyan Prairie Wolves. Vrtiska will participate in both indoor and outdoor track seasons for the Prairies Wolves which are members of the Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.  Rudy will focus on running the hurdles and 400 while possibly participating in multi-event competitions. Coach Derrick McKenzie of Nebraska Wesleyan stated that “Rudy’s character first stands out to us as a staff.  Mix that in with his versatility on the track and his raw potential, we are excited for his future with NWU track and field.  We know the type of student athletes that fit NWU and Rudy fits what we look for at a high level.”

Vrtiska will begin his third track season for the Falls City Tigers after qualifying the last 2 years for the Nebraska State Track Meet in the 300 hurdles and 400 M race. According to Coach Terri Hogue Falls City Tiger track coach, “Rudy is a dedicated athlete.  He works extremely hard and puts in extra time after workouts.  When Rudy competes it’s for the school, the team and himself.”
