Horatio Alger Scholarship

Horatio Alger Career & Technical Scholarship

The Horatio Alger Career & Technical Education Scholarship application will open in May with a rolling selection process that will award the first round of scholarships by July. Should spaces remain, the application will remain open until all scholarships are awarded.  Please refer to the CTE Scholarship page to confirm the current application status.


  • Have completed high school (or earned a high school equivalency credential).

  • Will enroll in eligible program in Fall 2021

  • Exhibit a strong commitment to pursue and complete a career or technical program (up to 2 years) at an accredited non-profit post-secondary institution in the United States.

  • Demonstrated critical financial need (must be eligible to receive the Federal Pell grant as determined by completion of the FAFSA).

  • Demonstrated perseverance in overcoming adversity.

  • Be under the age of 30.

  • Be a United States citizen.

John H. Morehead Memorial Scholarship

The requirements for the scholarship are as follows:

1. The applicant must be a graduate of a Richardson County high school.

2. The applicant must be currently enrolled in a 4-year college or university.

3. The applicant must have a cumulative college GPA of at least 3.0, having completed the first year of study at the 4-year college or university.

4. Graduate students are not eligible.

5. The applicant is required to submit all application materials by May 1, 2021.

 The scholarship shall be awarded based on the following criteria:

·      The student has proven that he or she is capable of hard work and sustained achievement through academics, work history, and involvement in activities and organizations,

·      The student’s goals regarding college and life after college show evidence of good character, sound ambition, and service to others.

Falls City Volunteer Ambulance Scholarship

Two scholarships in the amount of $500 each are awarded annually to one student from Falls City Sacred Heart and one student from Falls City High School. Scholarships will be awarded to those entering a two or four year college with a declared major in the healthcare field. 

 Applications should be completed and returned to FCVAS, PO Box 551, Falls City, NE  68355, by April 30th, 2021.

Lions Club

Falls City Lions Club Scholarship

Orris C. Hatch Memorial, 2 scholarships, $1000 each.

This scholarship will assist a graduating senior who plans to attend:




NURSING SCHOOL (4-year college qualifies)

Basis of selection is: 1/3 scholastic achievement, 1/3 financial need and economic circumstances of applicant as expressed in application, 1/3 on: extra-curricular involvement in high school, involvement in church and community activities & content of written application.

AHRS Construction Trades Scholarship

· The intent of this scholarship, from AHRS Construction, Inc., is to provide hands-on and

technical construction skills training to students in NE Kansas and SE Nebraska to prepare them

for a career in the construction industry.


· $500 to $2,000

o Scholarships may be awarded to multiple individuals

o Scholarship amounts will be determined based on the number of qualified applicants &

the excellence of their applications

o This scholarship has the potential to be renewable for the 2nd year of a 2-year program

o Upon successful graduation/receipt of certificate from the trades school, you may be

eligible for a $2,000 signing bonus to hire on with AHRS Construction


· Application is open to students at the following schools:

o Centralia (KS)

o Falls City Public School (NE)

o Falls City Sacred Heart (NE)

o Frankfort (KS)

o Hiawatha (KS)

· Must be a senior in high school on track to obtain a high school diploma or GED

· Must be currently enrolled or planning to enroll in a 1-year or 2-year construction trade related

school, preferably from the list of programs noted below:

o Washburn Tech – Topeka, KS

 Building Technology-Carpentry (1-Year)

Falls City Partners in Education

2020-2021 Scholarship Program

Falls City Partners in Education (P.I.E.) will be awarding one (1) $500 scholarship to

a graduating senior of the Falls City High School Class of 2021. Applications are due

no later than April 30, 2021.

Program Guidelines & Priorities:

• Applicant should be a graduating senior of the current class of FCHS.

• Applicant must plan to attend a trade school, two (2)-year community college,

or four (4)-year college or university.

• Applications can be obtained from the High School Guidance Counselor and

returned to the counselor by April 30, 2021. Late or incomplete applications

will not be accepted.

• Applications will be reviewed by the P.I.E. board members at the May P.I.E.


• Recipient will be awarded at the 2021 Awards Night.
