Superintendent Update

Dear Falls City Public Schools Families,

The FCPS is preparing to begin the 2021-2022 school year as currently scheduled to begin with students on August 16. This past year the health and safety of our students and staff was our priority as we worked to provide academics and activities for our FCPS students, and we will continue with these efforts. The FCPS will continue in-person instruction this fall, will not be requiring anyone to wear masks, and will not mandate the vaccine. Furthermore, all DHM’s ended, effective June 30, 2021.

As before, we ask you to please be understanding and be flexible as we continue to try to navigate through this pandemic. We will continue to work with the Governor’s office, Nebraska Department of Education, and the local health department to make the best decisions for our students and staff. We are planning to start the 2021-2022 school year with no restrictions.

FCPS will begin the 2021 fall sports season as currently scheduled, with no restrictions. The first high school practices for football, volleyball, cross country and softball are set to begin on August 9th

School Meals at No Charge for All Students - Effective for School Year 2021-22, FCPS will serve meals at no charge to enrolled students. The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has approved local school districts to provide no-cost meals to all enrolled students for the duration of the 2021-22 school year. The new school year requires a new meal application. Although school meals will be provided at no cost to all children, school funding depends on completed meal applications. It is important to submit a complete 2021-22 meal application as soon as possible.

Our goal once again, is to return to school to have a full, productive, healthy school year and create a great experience for our students. Please, help us achieve this goal. We greatly appreciate and thank our students, staff, and families for their tremendous efforts and support as we look forward to the 2021-2022 school year.

Go Tigers,

Tim Heckenlively, Superintendent
