The Mock Trial Teams traveled to Papillion on November 10 to compete in the Nebraska State Bar Foundation Mock Trial Competition. Falls City High School is fielding two teams this year. Falls City competed against teams from Bellevue West High School and Springfield Plattview in the Sarpy County Courthouse. Each team was assigned a side of a Civil Lawsuit and presented its case using evidence and exhibits and called witnesses to testify in the case. 3 students assumed the roles of Attorneys and 3 students were assigned roles as witnesses. Attorneys questioned witnesses on both direct examination and cross-examination. During the trial, attorneys could object to questions that were asked by the opposing party and could respond when their questions were objected to by opposing parties in the case. At the conclusion of the trial, performance judges (who are practicing attorneys) and the presiding judge gave valuable feedback to both teams. The feedback provided both compliments and suggestions for the participants to use in future competitions. The winners of the regional competition will meet in Omaha at the State Competition in December. Schools in the region include. Papillion Lavista High School, Bellevue West High School, Weeping Water High School, HTRS, and Conestoga High School. Team members on Falls City's team include: Stiephan Fields, Jaden Ansel, Makayla Ansel, Jaxtyn Harvey, Hayden Findlay, Kaitlyn Kirkendall, Katelynn Titus, Jayme Ewers, Bailey Thimmes, Paige Young, Brock Caudle, Ethan Morris Falls City's Attorney Coach is Samantha Scheitel

Burke Wissman battled the #3 NSESA Smash player this afternoon and went all five rounds but came up just short of a round two playoff victory. Great season Burke! The Rocket League 1 team came up short also this afternoon with a tough loss to a scrappy Thayer Central team. Great job this season Ethan, Peyton, and Eric!

Congrats to the #9 ranked Falls City 2 Rocket League team (Chase Simpson, Chase Brown, and Ryker McCullough) on defeating the #8 ranked Conestoga 1 team 3-0 in a best of 5. They advance to the quarterfinals next week and will more than likely take on #1 ranked David City 1. A win next week will advance them to the state tournament in Hastings on Saturday, November 19. #4 ranked FC 1 (Peyton Brown, Ethan Boatright, and Eric Heinzelman) plays #13 ranked Thayer Central 1 Thursday afternoon at 4:15. The competition will be live streamed via Twitch. With a win, they would more than likely face #5 ranked Syracuse 1 in the quarterfinals next week.
