These sixth graders presented a speech in their classrooms and moved on to a schoolwide contest. The topic was the greatest American hero. The top three will move on to the Eastern Nebraska District speech competition in Omaha in April. Congratulations, Caroline Powell (first place), Kaytlyn Rhodd (second place), Tessa Gossman (third place)!

NJHS practiced leadership skills and working together to build the highest pvc tower using only one hand! Two teams won different rounds. The activity was a culmination of a "Leadership Summit" unit with Kaytlyn Kennedy, UNL Extension.

Attention Sophomore class parents, the Class of 2025 students were given trash bag fundraiser forms today. An ice cream sundae bar will be given to the students who sell 10 or more trash bags. All profits will help pay for prom next year. 💃🪩🕺

National Honor Society Induction Ceremony On Tuesday, March 14th, 9 new members were inducted into the Falls City Chapter of the National Honor Society. The program began with an introduction and history of National Honor Society led by the principal, Mr. Gale Dunkhas. The four qualities embraced by the National Honor Society are Scholarship, Leadership, Character, and Service. The four qualities were described by the current National Honor Society officers. 2023 officers are Elyse Poppe, president, Kacy Brewer, vice-president, Reece McNeely, secretary, and Gaby Niedfeldt, treasurer. The induction pledge was then recited and certificates were distributed. The ceremony was closed with a few words from Mr. Gale Dunkhas, principal. The new inductees include senior; Kellen McAfee. Juniors; Alexis Brewer, Kemper Foster. Sophomores; Isabelle Armbruster, Ethan Boatright, Ruby Nguyen, Emilou Schulenberg, Sierrah Vermeer, Paige Young. The National Honor Society officers served cake and punch to the new members and their families following the induction. selections for February High School Students of the Month. The honors go to the following students: Upperclassmen- Kellen McAfee, a senior, is the son of Nicole and Mike McAfee, Gaby Niedfeldt, a senior, is the daughter of Joe and Katie Niedfeldt. Underclassmen- Hayden Findlay, a sophomore, is the son of Jeff and Susan Findlay. Emilou Schulenberg, a sophomore, is the daughter of Dusty and Kristi Schulenberg.

The 6th grade quiz bowl teams went to Freeman on Tuesday March 14 to compete. Both teams competed and represented Falls City Middle School well. Team A advanced through two rounds of tournament action before being eliminated.
