On Monday, Gunner Lippold participated in the UNK Honor Clinic with 600 students from 150 schools. He placed second chair clarinet in the Wind Ensemble. Excellent job Gunner! 🎉🎶🧡
In January and February, the South School counseling department is working with the Nebraska Extension office to teach 3rd & 4th graders about leadership. Using the Discipline with Purpose unit, South School has 10 self-discipline skills, leadership being one of them. Pictured here, Kaytlyn Kennedy, a UNL Extension Educator, directs the 3rd grade class on how to work together and create a sense of belonging in groups by performing skits on what they did during one of the student snow days. The 4th grade is reviewing and building off what Mrs. Kennedy taught them last year, working on non-verbal communication skills to line up by height.
Congratulations to the South School Honor Roll students. Each of these students received an accumulated GPA of 3.3-4.0 during first semester. P.I.E. sponsored a Sundae Bar for each of them to enjoy Congratulations students!!

On Saturday, Grace Morris performed at the UNO BOCH Festival with the 9-12 string orchestra! The ensemble had 24 hours to practice together and perform selections from Mendelssohn, Schubert, and George Walker. Fantastic work! 🎶🎉🧡

Our Yearbook staff got to use some of the new equipment from the Arts Now Grant this morning when we took pictures for our Senior Superlatives pages. Junior Emilou Schulenberg used the new camera with the new SD card to take the pictures. We set up our new LED lights on both sides of the people in the pictures for great lighting. In this picture, Seniors Ava Armbruster, Ashleigh Kirkendall, Jon Khanh, Wyatt Wason, and Chase Brown are posing for the awards of Best Friends and Best Bromance. Thank you to the Arts Now Grant for all of the new Yearbook equipment! We will definitely put it to good use, and we really appreciate it!
