The Falls City high school Life Skills class will be taking on a new adventure this year. Our students will be running their own coffee shop. It will be called "Kind Grounds".
They will serve coffee and treats. The students will be responsible for making the coffee and some of the treats. We will be serving coffee and treats to the administrators at their weekly administrator meetings at the high school on Tuesdays. We will also be selling coffee and treats to the high school staff during study hall once a week.
The students will do inventory, take money, count change, cook and make the coffee.

🎉📚 As we kick off the 2025–26 school year, we’re excited to share an update from the Falls City High School Career Academy!
✅ FCHS students are enrolled in 146 college courses this fall.
✅ 54% of seniors and 56% of juniors are taking at least one college course.
✅ By taking these courses through FCHS, students save BIG. The total cost of the classes to our students is 💵 $19,300.
vs. 💵 $53,874 if they took the same courses on the campus of SCC
💵 $142,350 at state colleges (Peru, Wayne, Chadron)
💵 $207,174 at UNL
This incredible program helps students save money, graduate faster, and step into the job market sooner by graduating earlier. 🚀
We’re proud of our students and excited for the year ahead! 💙🧡

We are gearing up for the In School Savings Program at South School. You may hear it referred to as the "Tiger Branch Bank" too! This program is for 3rd-5th grade students. They have the opportunity to participate in two deposit days per month. There are many incentives for participating, including a $5 match for the first deposit. At the end of their South School journey, Frontier Bank will write the student a check for the amount saved. This program provides many learning opportunities for students including how to make a deposit, how to fill out a deposit slip, and how to save money. 5th grade students also have the chance to be a teller. If you are interested in this program, please fill out and return the permission slip. Students should have already received one. If you need a new copy, please ask the office or print one off our school website under "Falls City South Elementary School". Feel free to contact us with any questions.
Interesting in learning more? Be sure to check out the In School Savings Program brochure on our school website. Click "Menu" and look under Falls City South Elementary School to find it.
This picture shows the deposit dates for the 2025-2026 school year. There is no deadline for the permission slips, however, each student must have one turned in before they are able to make a deposit. If there are any changes due to weather in the winter months, new dates will be announced via Class Dojo and the school Facebook page. Feel free to contact us with any questions.

Tiger Volleyball fans. Wanted to make sure everyone understood the new 2-hit rule for 2025. To summarize, Referee's will only call 2-hits if the ball is played over the net. A player can set the ball, with multiple hits, to their teammate.
