FFA members drove tractors to school this week on Wednesday. Mother Nature spoiled the party last Friday with frigid temperatures. Thank you Mr. Miller and Ms. Johnson for another successful FFA week . #handsonlearning

International Angelman Syndrome Day occurs each year on February 15th. We are a little late due to the weather, but it is never too late to celebrate Tenley. She lights up everyone’s day at South School! We would like to thank Sheena, Jake, and W7 for organizing this, creating t-shirts, and donating the proceeds back to the South School Sped Department. As you can tell from the pictures, the kids loved making Tenley’s day while spreading awareness for Angelman Syndrome.💙

The Falls City Public School Board of Education voted unanimously Monday, February 24, 2025, to negotiate with Dr. Andrew Offner for the position of Superintendent of Schools. Dr. Offner is currently the Superintendent at Winside Public Schools. He has served in that role since 2019. Dr. Offner has also had administrative experience at Madison Public Schools, Oakland-Craig Public Schools and Wheeler Central Public Schools. Dr. Offner received his Doctor of Education from the University of South Dakota in May of 2023. The Superintendent interview process included meetings with groups from the Staff and Administration, in addition to a formal interview with the Board. The Board wishes to thank the interview groups for their time invested in the process and their valuable input. The Board of Education will take action on Dr. Offner’s Superintendent contract at an upcoming meeting of the board. We look forward to welcoming him and his family to the Falls City Public Schools and the community of Falls City.

Monday after school, the Falls City MS LoL team defeated Lincolton MS-8th Grade from North Carolina to improve to 3-0 on the season. It was a battle that lasted nearly fifty minutes and came down to a close base race. MS Boys Wrestling traveled to Sidney, Iowa for the first competition of the season. Finished the day with 19 wins (15 pins) and 6 losses. Let’s keep the momentum rolling for the rest of the season. The HS softball parents meeting has been rescheduled for Thursday, March 6th at 5:30 pm in the HS Commons. This meeting is for any parent/guardian of students planning on playing high school softball next year.

On Saturday, February 22, Falls City Middle School took 4-8th grade students (Elijah Diltz, Collin Roberts, Audrey Scrivens, and Peyton Weddle) to the 42nd Annual SE Nebraska Chapter Math Counts Competition on the UNL campus. This is the first year of competing at this level. A total of 74 competitors from 10 schools participated. Four different testing rounds, activity, and awards followed. Elijah Diltz earned the top scorer award for our school.
