On October 8, the Tigers had two varsity Overwatch 2 matches, a varsity Super Smash Bros Ultimate match, and a Middle School Super Smash Bros Ultimate match and were one win shy of sweeping the night.
Overwatch 2 (2-2) defeated Mitchell, NE, 2-0 after school and in the evening defeated Kearney Catholic 2-1 in their most well-played match of the season. In Weeks 2 & 3, the team lost tough matches against Stanton, NE, and undefeated #1 Freeman. The team consists of captains Deacon Jacobs (Fr.; Support) and Carter Rumbaugh (Fr.; DPS & Support), Avery Wendtlandt (So.; DPS & Support), Christian Saul (So.; Tank), Xaiver Luginbill (Fr.; DPS), Tripp Lippold (So.; DPS), and Dayton Snethen (So.; Support). Coach Nathaniel Syslo commented, “This group of young men has made a lot of progress from Week 1 and played their best against Kearney Catholic. They are going to have to continue to push themselves to prepare for #3 David City next week and #6 Bridgeport in Week 6.” Both of those teams are currently undefeated.
The varsity Super Smash Bros Ultimate teams both defeated Wakefield, NE, on Tuesday. Team 1 (5-1) consists of Camden Jean (Fr.) and Deacon Jacobs (Fr.). Team 2 (4-2) consists of Carter Rumbaugh (Fr.), Asher Kuker (Fr.), and Xaiver Luginbill (Fr.).
Both Middle School Smash teams entered the day undefeated and tied at #1 with each other and the Norris Middle School team. Team 1, Liam Sutton (7th) and Noah Jacobs (7th), beat both of Hemingford’s teams to remain undefeated at 6-0. Team 2, Seth Jackson (7th), Dierks Foster (7th), and Zade Bents (8th) went 1-1 against Hemingford and are now 5-1 overall.

Falls City High School and Middle School students heard a powerful message from former Husker football player Ricky Simmons. Ricky encouraged our students to have a positive mental attitude, have a plan, and be motivated. He asked that students to learn from mistakes made by others, you don't have to make those mistakes yourselves. Thank you to F & M Bank for providing this opportunity for our students and staff.
