District music contest for the High School Music Department will be Friday, April 21, 2023 in Auburn.

Concert Choir-10:20 am
Concert Band-2:08 pm
A number of small ensembles and solos will also compete.

The Middle School Spring Music Concert will be on Monday, April 24, 2023 at 7:00 pm in the High School New Gym. All music students need to report by 6:45. Bands will warm up in the band room. Choirs will find their seats.
All music students need to bring an extra shirt so they can leave their music polo with Mrs. Sutton at the conclusion of the concert.

DAUGHTERS OF THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION (DAR) ESSAY CONTEST WINNERS ANNOUNCED
The 9-12th grade topic was "Select a figure from the era of the American Revolution (1773-1783). Discuss how he or she influenced the course of the American Revolution, who he or she was and his/her contribution to the founding of a new nation. Your figure may be any person, whether a well-known figure or an everyday man, woman, or child who supported the American Revolution in ways large or small."
The 12th grade 1st place winner was Stiephan Fields, the 2nd place winner was Elyse Poppe, and the 3rd place winner was Alexis Miller.
All of the 1st place winners of the local chapter advanced to state where they won 1st place! These essays moved on to the regional contest.
The winners of the local essay contest were honored at a reception at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 20th Towle St. on April 14th. The students read their essays to their families and the Reavis-Ashley members. Refreshments were served by the Reavis-Ashley Chapter.

The staff and administration of Falls City High School have announced the
selections for March High School Students of the Month. The honors go to the following students:
Upperclassmen- Kemper Foster, a junior, is the son of Drew and Stacey Foster, Emily Vitosh, a junior, is the daughter of Jason and Stacey Vitosh.
Underclassmen- Ethan Morris, a freshman, is the son of Adam and Sarah Morris. Paige Young, a sophomore, is the daughter of Chris Young and Amanda Bartek-Ramsey and Marc Ramsey.
The students were nominated by high school staff and are being recognized for being innovative, responsible, resilient, and resourceful. Each of the students was praised in nomination comments for “academic excellence, going above and beyond what was asked of them, their helpfulness, and their leadership, and serving as excellent role models for their peers,” according to high school principal Gale Dunkhas.

On Thursday, May 11th the Falls City Middle School students will be showcasing their Science Fair Projects. The 6th grade students will be from 4:00-5:00 in the cafeteria, while 7th-8th Graders will be in the gym from 4:00-6:00. Please come and support all of their hard work!!

Last week in Chemistry, students measured the temperature and pressure with Vernier Graphical Analysis probes/app, to discover how to find absolute zero in the classroom.

Congratulations to these middle school students who competed in the eastern Nebraska district one speech contest in Omaha, speaking on "A Great American Hero. In the 7th and 8th grade division, Kinley Alexander placed third. In the 5th and 6th grade division, Caroline Powell placed second and Kaytlin Rhodd placed third. They will advance to state May 4!


On Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of next week, Middle School will be conducting state testing in the mornings. Please make sure your students get to bed on time and eat a good meal at night and in the morning before school. Let's Go Tigers!

A medical incident occurred at Falls City Middle School this morning where 911 was utilized. The building went into a hold until the student in distress was transported to the hospital. All students are safe and the school day is resuming on a normal schedule.

The Falls City Public and Sacred Heart fifth grade bank tellers were invited to the Nebraska State Capitol to meet with Gov. Pillen as he signed a proclamation celebrating Financial Literacy Month. They enjoyed a tour of the capitol and financial activities at the Department of Banking and Finance.





Students can pick up physical forms in the middle or high school office. Just bring in the completed forms, urine sample and 20 dollars on the day of the physicals. We highly encourage all 8th - 12th grade athletes to take advantage of this opportunity.
