Mrs. Julie Frederick's Anatomy class is dissecting fetal pigs for comparison with the human body. This Unit is a wrap up from the year learning all the human body systems. We were able to have hands on experience and observe the skeletal, muscular, digestive, urinary systems, etc... The dissecting unit will be followed up by our trip to the cadaver lab next week in Lincoln.

2023 Annual FFA Banquet The Falls City FFA held their annual banquet on April 23, 2023 in the Falls City high school gym. The banquet started with a nice meal of smoked pork with sides, some delightful cupcakes and ice cream. With over 150 people in attendance, the Falls City FFA celebrated their accomplishments from the year. The Falls City FFA would like to recognize Gary Frederick and Frederick farms for donation of the hog, JPs Butcher Block for the donating of the butchering of the hog, Rita Johansen for making and donating the multiple flavors of amazing cupcakes, and The Falls City FFA Alumni for donating the scholarships and thank them for their support throughout the year. Students were recognized for their competition awards throughout the year and the chapter presented a slideshow of the year's highlights with many pictures. The Falls City FFA also awarded the different levels of degrees within the chapter. The first level of the degrees is the Greenhand degree awarded to first year active members with plans for an SAE and knowledge and understanding of the FFA organization. Members receiving the Greenhand degree were Blakely Sells, Breean Eickhoff, Brock Niedfeldt, Ethan Morris, Evie Rue, Malori Kuker, Kaydence Rego, Mason Collier, and Sierrah Vermeer. The second level is the Chapter degree awarded to second year active members who have earned the Greenhand degree and have begun to invest time and money into their SAE program outside of the classroom. Members receiving the Chapter degree were Katelynn Titus and Malesa Wickham. The State FFA degree is awarded to students who have received the Chapter degree and have been active in FFA for at least 2 years with a certain amount of time and money put into their SAE. To receive this degree members had to submit at least 2 years of records and fill out an application that is reviewed at the state level. Members receiving the State FFA degree and were recognized at the Nebraska State Convention were Jodie Uhri and Cayleigh Eickhoff. The highest level of degree is the American degree, which is awarded to members who have demonstrated outstanding records and skills in their SAE area for the past 3 years. Falls City FFA had two students who achieved this high honor, Gwen Olberding and Laney Feek who received this degree at the National FFA Convention this past fall. Next up in the program were Proficiency Awards. These are awarded to members who have demonstrated and excelled in their SAE area. Members receiving a proficiency award at the Chapter level were Cayleigh Eickhoff, Jodie Uhri, Ethan Morris, Katelynn Titus, and Mason Collier. Members receiving a proficiency award at the District level were Wyatt Olberding, Kemper Foster, Jordan Wilcox, Jodie Uhri, and Cayleigh Eickhoff. Proficiencies that went to state were Jodie Uhri and Cayleigh Eickhoff. After the awards, Tylene Snethen of the Falls City FFA Alumni then recognized Jodie Uhri and Cayleigh Eickhoff as the recipients of the Falls City FFA Alumni Scholarship! . To conclude the banquet, The Falls City FFA installed the new officers for the upcoming school year. Seniors Jodie Uhri, Cayleigh Eickhoff, and Stiephan Fields then retired their jackets. It was another banquet in the books, a finish to the year of activities and the beginning of a new year of opportunities! Congratulations to the Falls City FFA Chapter members!
